Advocate Chandré Brown is a respected South African advocate and member of the Cape Bar (Society of Advocates of Cape Town). Admitted as an advocate of the High Court of South Africa in 2011, she has practised from Huguenot Chambers in Cape Town for more than a decade, developing 

extensive experience in both general civil and criminal litigation. Her areas of practice include delictual claims, administrative law, constitutional litigation, and criminal law.

Prior to commencing practice at the independent Bar, Adv. Brown completed her legal studies at 

Stellenbosch University, where she obtained her Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree. Throughout her career, she has appeared in a broad range of matters before the High Court and has also served as an assessor in criminal trials, contributing her expertise to the administration of justice.

Adv. Brown has been involved in a number of significant constitutional and public interest matters. She formed part of the legal team representing applicants in the landmark New Nation Movement NPC v President of the Republic of South Africa litigation before the Constitutional Court, a case that reshaped South Africa’s electoral system by affirming the constitutional right of independent candidates to stand for election to the National Assembly and provincial legislatures. Constitutional and public interest matters. Beyond her litigation practice, Adv. Brown has demonstrated a longstanding commitment to the transformation of the legal profession. She has held leadership positions within Advocates for Transformation (AFT) and has been actively involved in the National Association of Democratic Lawyers (NADEL)

where she has participated in community outreach, legal education, and social justice initiatives. Her work has included organising public interest projects, mentoring young legal practitioners, and promoting access to justice for disadvantaged communities. 

Adv. Brown has also played an important role in collaborative initiatives across the legal profession. She has supported projects involving the judiciary, the Legal Practice Council, the Law Society of South Africa, ProBono.Org, and other legal organisations aimed at expanding pro bono legal services and improving public access to legal assistance in the Western Cape.

Recognised for her professionalism, advocacy skills, and commitment to constitutional values, Adv.
