Advocate Lizelle Dominique Haskins is a distinguished South African advocate, acting judge, mediator, and corporate governance specialist. She practises from Chambers ’56 under the Pan African Bar Association of South Africa (PABASA) in Johannesburg and is recognised for her expertise in commercial litigation, tax law, corporate governance, and public law.

Adv. Haskins obtained her LLB and LLM in Corporate Law from the University of Pretoria, together with an Honours Certificate in Advanced Tax Practice and an Advanced Certificate in Corporate Law. Before entering full-time practice at the Bar, she served as an Academic Associate and Lecturer at the University of Pretoria and later worked as a Tax Specialist at the South African Revenue 

Service (SARS), where she developed extensive expertise in tax, customs, and excise law.

She completed her pupillage with the Pretoria Society of Advocates and commenced practice as an advocate in 2007. Since then, she has established a successful practice covering general commercial law, tax law, customs and excise, company law, competition law, corporate 

governance, administrative law, procurement law, and general litigation. She is also an accredited CEDR mediator, enabling her to assist clients in alternative dispute resolution and commercial mediation.

Adv. Haskins has held several important public appointments. In 2014, she was appointed by the Minister of Trade, Industry and Competition as a Tribunal Member of the Companies Tribunal, where she adjudicated company law disputes and facilitated mediation proceedings under the Companies Act. Since 2017, she has served on numerous occasions as an Acting Judge of the Gauteng Division of the High Court, including presiding over matters in the Tax Court, earning recognition for her judicial competence and legal scholarship.

In addition to her legal practice, Adv. Haskins has made significant contributions to corporate governance and public administration. She has served on the boards of several public and private entities, including the Tshwane Economic Development Agency, the SEDA Limpopo Jewellery Incubator,  and other governance structures. Her work has focused on promoting sound corporate governance, accountability, and economic development.

Adv. Haskins is also an active leader within the legal profession. She serves on the National Executive Committee of the National Association of Democratic Lawyers (NADEL) as National Publicity Secretary, where she contributes to advancing constitutional democracy, legal transformation, and professional development within the legal community. She is also a prominent member of PABASA, promoting diversity, excellence, and transformation at the independent Bar.

Beyond her legal and judicial responsibilities, Adv. Haskins is committed to community development and leadership. She has established and supported several non-profit organisations focused on empowering women and young people, and she has received numerous awards recognising her leadership, public service, and contribution to society. Her career reflects a commitment to legal excellence, ethical leadership, transformation, and the advancement of justice in South Africa.
